I wanted to share this Fairy Tale re-write with you.
The one thing people who study folktales agree on is that fairy tales like Cinderella appeal to some basic social needs. One of these needs can be seen as a means of acculturating in terms of gender roles. For the assignment I chose to re-write Cinderella to make it less stereotypical. Not my best writing I must admit but, in comparison to the original, a step up.
I make connections between our class and Merrisa Ferrara's Comm 370 Gender and Communication class daily. She is another peace-minded individual who promotes ideals similar to ours in class. I am planning on spreading the word to her and CP1D through an upcoming assignment by interviewing you as a social advocate. I'll keep you posted. Hope the link works:
