"We must build dikes of courage
to hold back the flood of fear... That old law about "an eye for an
eye" leaves everybody blind... The time is always right to do the
right thing... Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but
a means by which we arrive at that goal." -Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr.
Think about it, the desire for peace
is one of the few things that ALL religions have in common. Why not
come together under that one umbrella? In regards to religion and
peacebuilding, interfaith dialogue has been a key component in
bringing religious groups together, groups that might not
necessarily agree doctrinally . With listening, understanding, and
a sense of caring, religion, an institution that tends to divide so
many nations, neighborhoods, and families can be the very thing
that actually brings people together. Let us come together, all
faith circles with a common need for justice, love, and concern for
people and a more sustainable world... and let's start that
"earnest dialogue."
Spirituality can help guide us to our true selves, bringing a sense
of ones own personal peace. Let us take the time to find the
silence, that personal peace. Then pass it on!
